Idea Paint, an entrepreneurial start up based in Boston, approached CAS-MI with early stage formulations of a coating that turns smooth surfaces into high-performance dry-erase surface. Two other labs had tried and failed to develop the innovative coating, but the CAS-MI Innovation Center team was able to formulate the breakthrough coating, and created a superior, cost-effective, and environmentally-friendly product. CAS-MI has become the company's technology and product development partner, coordinating new product innovation, supply chain management, toll production, beta testing, and all technical aspects of new product launches.

Fast Turnaround Toll Production

A customer launching a new product line needed quick turnaround time on marketing kits for sending samples of their new coating product to potential customers. When their contract toll manufacturer was unable to meet the tight deadline, they came to CAS-MI. Our ability to formulate and produce small scale production quantities solved the problem. The product was made, and the marketing kits were shipped out in less than 5 days.

Market Research

An Innovation Center client wanted to do some market research on a new coating we were formulating. CAS-MI business development personnel set up beta sites at various locations locally and nationally. The goal was to test the product for performance and obtain customer feedback. Valuable market information was gathered, allowing our client and formulators to modify and perfect the product for commercialization.

Painting an Icon

Not just any coating will do when the iconic Hollywood sign needs to be painted. A client came to CAS-MI in need of a coating that would endure the harsh California environment. Our expert formulators were able to develop a coating that was durable to the intense light, heat and wind of southern California. To this day, the sign still looks great and is seen around the world as the icon of the entertainment industry.
